• Readily usable materials: Some guidelines and templates are available – however, these guidelines are usually theoretical rather than experience-based, templates provided are too generic and getting either of these requires signing up for expensive consultancy services. The book has multiple templates that have been customised to suit aerospace manufacturers, their suppliers and the aerospace industry in general, with case studies of real-world implementations.
• Long-lasting relevance: The Standard undergoes revision approximately every six years. The last revision was made in 2009. The next revision process is likely to be launched in 2013/14 and released in 2015/16. However the next revision is expected to be minor so this book will continue to be relevant.

About the Author: K. T. Thomas retired as Deputy Director/Principal Scientific Officer in Directorate General of Aeronautical Quality Assurance, Ministry of Defence, India in 2006 after nearly 40 years of experience. He has over 28 years of quality assurance experience with the development, production and overhaul of aircraft and aero-engines of the Indian Air Force from trainers to frontline fighters. He is a certified Lead Auditor for ISO-9001:2008 and ANAB approved/IAQG OASIS registered Aerospace Industry Experienced Auditor for AS 9100 Rev C. Over the past seven years, he has conducted more than 370 audits and training courses and presented papers at national/international conferences. He is the author of ‘Safety Follows Where Quality Leads’ (2010; nearly 1000 copies sold).

This is a small, handy document that contains the text of the Constitution of the United States in full, as well as several other major formative documents: The Virginia Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, and a collection of case law summaries that relate to major constitutional issues in history.

The book also contains an essay on the origins of the Constitution, including a brief overview of the Revolutionary War, the failures of the Articles of Confederation, the Convention of 1787, and the ratification process. After the text of the documents is a brief essay on the role of the Supreme Court and the doctrine of judicial review. Perhaps most surprising to most Americans is that the powr of judicial review is not a constitutionally-granted power to the Supreme Court, but rather develops out of the English common law tradition and the early Federalist thinkers.

This text concludes with a brief summary of major federal offices, qualifications for office and duties assigned to the offices. It also lists presidents, Supreme Court justices, lists of states with dates of settlement and entering the union, and other handy facts and lists.

This is a good book to have handy - every household in the United States should have a copy of the Constitution.

A slight dose of morphine for Murakami fans.

Birthday Stories, edited by Haruki Murakami, is a slight dose of morphine for those who are waiting for the English translation of his latest novel, Kafka on Shore. This "timeless anthology" of short stories brings the readers to see birthdays at different angles. There are sober birthdays, and also sweet ones. Stories are selected to provide a wide range of writing styles, from contemporary writer Andrea Lee and Ethan Canin to the famous Raymond Craver, Paul Theroux and Murakami himself. Personally, my favourite picks in the book include: "The Moor" by Russell Banks (a man meeting a woman accidentally on her birthday thirty years later and a love affair involving an age difference of decades is revisited); "Timothy's Birthday" (about how Timothy draws away from his parents after his homoosexual partner died in the previous year); "The Birthday Cake" by Daniel Lyons (a mother who insists on not giving away a cake for their children who are not coming home for celebration); "The Bath" by Raymond Craver (the parental worries on concern on the car accdient of their beloved birthday son; the ending is particularly thought-provoking) and "Close to the Water's Edge" by Claire Keegan (an eminent Harvard student failing to change his lifestyle on his birthday).
The first book I picked up by Ethan Canin was his collection of short stories called The Palace Thief. His writing style already haunted me at that time. What amazes me more in his "Angel of Mercy, Angel of Wrath" is his fast-paced plot and the delicate treatment of the psychology of a paranoid and ignored birthday mother. The dialogues are simple but powerful, short by revealing.
Let's talk about the dose of Murakami morphine. His story "Birthday Girl" is simple and consise to bring out the message that no matter what we wish on our birthdays, we are still what we are. Wishes for a change in fact do not, or cannot, change anything at all". This is similar to the everything-happens-for-a-reason theory in Wild Sheel Chase. The birthday girl in the story does not tell the narrator what she wished on her 20th birthday. Does it matter? This anthology is a fast-read. All the stories in the anthology are very solid, nothing pretentious. It is definitely one of the books you may pick out if you have no dates on the forthcoming birthday - a great birthday companion. What should be mentioned here is the poem (or lyrics?) written by Paul Simon at the beginning of the anthology - "Have a good time". How many of us really had a good time on our past birthdays? Or how many of us expected so? Will we have a (un)happy birthday next year? We don't know. But the characters in the stories tell us that they have something to grasp on theirs - the readers.

Someone gave me this book for my birthday. Read it cover to cover on a Sunday afternoon.

Every story is unique, full of life, joy, smiles, longing, and deep melancholy. A most read, and certainly a wonderful birthday present!

great experience reading this

I am about 1/2 way through this book and am enjoying every page of it. This diary of this very human lady is very inspiring and opens up some awesome areas for our growth. Most of all is the witness that she bears to her own security in Christ Jesus in the midst of other people who are not thankful in the midst of unpleasant circumstances or unpleasant people. It really challenges the reader to find that place by faith in Jesus Christ so we are a testimony of His love and patience in all situations.

Grandchildren and I love this Book! 13 pages featuring birds, 10 pages featuring mammals, and 7 pages with miscellaneous species

Every single illustration in this book is captivating. I love coloring in this book and it is a favorite with all of my school aged grandchildren, both boys and girls. The flowing, elegant, artistic, illustrations spark your creativity and draw children away from video games and TV.

I have to be honest, I saw the image of this coloring book and it Intrigued me, but I didn't have a clue about the title. What is Art Nouveau? Then I really wanted to know what type of animals were included in the Illustrations.

What is Art Nouveau? (I looked it up on line)

1. Art Nouveau (New Art) is a style of decorative art and design that was popular in the US from about 1890 until World War I and characterized by intricate linear designs and flowing curves based on natural forms.

The illustrations in this book feature patterns of animals(not mammals (see below) intertwined vines, flowers, and other plants.

What Animals are in the book?

2. I counted the pages and this book has 13 pages featuring birds, 10 pages featuring mammals, and 7 pages with miscellaneous other species as follows: 1 butterflies, 2 fish, 1 crayfish, 1 with frogs and dragon flies, 1 snails and butterflies, 1 with seahorse, shells and starfish and one with a bird, fish and frogs.

3. 31 Illustrations printed one per page ( the back of each page is blank) on heavy weight, bright white, perforated pages.
4. Details vary per illustration.
5. Use crayons, colored pencils, gel pens, or markers with this book. If your pens or markers leach through the page, just place a scrap piece of paper under the page you are coloring and leave the book open until dry.

6. Two fully colored pages are included on the inside covers to kick start your imagination. I have included those with other pictures to help you decide if this is just the right book for you.

My older grandchildren both boys and girls (age 8 and up) and I love this coloring book. The pictures are too detailed for my grandchildren to finish in one afternoon but the perforated pages allow me to easily remove the pages for the children to take home and finish.

Marty Noble does it again!

Adult coloring books are a wonderful way to escape from various aspects of our daily lives that can cause us stress. For me, I have a very ill mother (terminal cancer) who has been an artist all of her life, yet now her hands shake and short-term memory is problematic. Yet give her an adult coloring book (or two or three...), a firm top lap desk, several types of colored pencils and accessories and she is very happy to delve into the image for hours at a time while recovering from chemo treatments in her bed. Even I enjoy coloring these pages as Noble consistently produces images (many from famous works of art) that are simple to challenging when found in these coloring books. This book "Art Nouveau Animal Designs" is amazing particularly due to the details included within each image. When my mother's copy arrived today, I was so happy to see the joy on her face as many of the designs included magnificent birds (her favorite animal next to her real-life puppy). A few relatives were also here when I gave it to my mother and they expressed interest in having their own copy of this coloring book...all over the age of twenty! So coloring is not just for kids anymore! (PS: Hospice nurse also approved!)

NOT Just for Kids!

These Marty Noble books are a great hobbie for adults - it's fun to figure out what colors to use and how to do the shading and bringing the images to vivid life with bright colors. It demands serious concentration which makes it very relaxing as all thoughts have to leave your head so you can work on the complicated designs - it's almost a form of meditation. And, when you are done you have a beautiful drawing (I use colored pencils, my favorite medium), suitable for framing. These Art Nouveau Animal Designs are particularly lovely. Art Nouveau is French for "New Art," it was an art movement that brought nature into design (flowers, birds, all kinds of animals) and believed art should be part of everyone's everyday life. For instance, art should not just be something you go and see at a museum, your house and furniture should be artistically designed, the knives and forks you eat with should be artistically designed - that's why you can see art nouveau styled household objects like lamps and chairs, because we should all be living with art. Art Nouveau, and it's philosophy, later lead to the Arts & Crafts movement.

Bought this textbook for a graduate level class. Very detailed on various topics related to health behavior. Could be written at a different reading level, though. Overall, nice book. Kindle version is easier to read.

Readable and Useful

A very readable book outlining a workable theory and solid techniques for treating DID/MPD. Systems theory clarifies the client's internal relationships by helping the therapist identify the roles and functions of the internal system without pathologizing extreme parts. It goes farther than most books in helping therapists understand their role in the relationship dynamics along with the stresses and strains expected in working with deeply traumatized clients.

This is not a book on how to draw or paint for the total beginner in case you are wondering, but a book on how to begin with acrylics. Expect plenty about what colors to buy, brushes to choose, what to paint on, what mediums do etc as well as advice about where to work and "choosing a studio" which can be a shed. Tables in the corner of a room don't appear to figure, so this is truly a book for the dedicated amateur/would-be professional. There are also sections on the inevitable composition, what to paint, various techniques to try etc including framing. There are no step-by-step projects to work through, this is for those beyond all that. This is one of those portmanteau books that throws a lot of stuff into an overnight bag and heads for a thoroughly good weekend away. It packs for all weathers and occasions and is as happy tramping the hills in a rainstorm as it is rocking it up in a ballgown at a five star hotel in the evening. It might even shove in a little je ne sais quoi in case it gets lucky. Some of the ideas are simple: Make a mahl-stick; some more adventurous: Using tone in context - for instance (I've given up on the travel metaphor now, let's not milk it). It's one of those books to have on the shelf and pull down when you just want something not too demanding to browse. ACRYLIC PAINTING TECHNIQUES

This is a very good book on acrylic painting techniques with lots of instruction, tips and trade secrets about using acrylic paints.

Starting with the basics, the book explains how to begin setting up and the good reasons for using acrylic paints. He discusses color, brushes, brush techniques, painting knives, sponges and shapers. He shows how to stretch and mount a canvas and how to set up a studio.

In chapter two, the author shows how to design a painting; how to create a good composition, pick good subjects and he explains color theory.

In chapter three, the author, explores techniques. He discusses acrylics, water colors, action painting, gouache, classic and modern oils, monoprinting and more. All of the illustrations are in full color. The paper is heavy stock glossy.

There are many examples of landscapes, seascapes, still lifes and animal studies. Each painting is shown in several stages of completion with tips on how to get it right. This is an exceptional book aimed at the beginner or slightly advanced artist that will make you a better painter in the acrylic medium.

A go-to acrylic technique book worth keeping open when painting.

While browsing online through some art collections and current exhibits in London museums and public galleries, I clicked on "Store" in each site just to see what was available - I was mostly interested in books on collections and exhibits that included discussions of the artists' techniques and materials. For one of the large public galleries, this was the only acrylic techniques book listed for that store. So, I dropped in here to Amazon and read all the reviews. Then, I went elsewhere on the www and read more reviews. Then, I came back to Amazon and bought it. Over the last few months, I have consulted it as often, if not more often, than the other handful (i.e., less than six) technique books I keep handy while painting.

If you are like me and don't want to take the time to experiment to achieve a particular effect when painting (or also like me don't have a long attention span so don't always remember what I'm doing), this book should be added to your reference library.

Excellent resource for beginners. This is one of the few art books I have read cover to cover. Each topic covers about two pages. The author includes colorful photos and brief text for each text.
