A Light Mystery/Romance

Entertaining. Nth is is the second book in this series. I like the writing and all of the characters. My only problem with this series, and this is just my opinion, is that Maddie and Nick don't have the passion I want to see them have. Some of his lines are a little "cheesy". This a very clean read. I would like to see some heat between Maddie and Nick.

Third book in the series and I have preordered 4and 5. I am wondering if this is a young adult series as the "love scenes" are squeaky clean. Now, I'm not one for romance books that read more like instruction or how-to manuals (you know what I mean) but a little heat would not be unwelcomed. Especially since we've been waiting for Maddie and Nick to get together. All the secondary characters are delightful and the villains (Marla and Cassidy) are real...well, insert your own word. I'm trying to keep it clean when it comes to those two.
My one reason for the 4 star rating, once again, is the repetition of certain phrases. "Smoking hot" "my Maddie", "you two are so cute", "you two are going to make me puke” and the endless pools that this town subect our sweet couple to.
Still, the story is engaging and I will continue to read the series. What I find wrong with the writing is dwarfed by the storyline as a whole. I hope I don't put anyone off this series. It truly is enjoyable.

So sweet it gave me a toothache

I really wanted to like this story, but I struggled to even finish it. I read the author's Ivy Morgan books and enjoyed them so I thought I would try this series. I downloaded the first three books and really enjoyed the first one in the series. The second book started to become annoying with Maddie's insecurities over everything, but I was hoping book three would be better. It wasn't. The constant proclamations of how much Maddie and Nick love each other was way over the top. Not only were they annoying, but it seems like the entire town (minus Cassidy and Marla) drank from the same pitcher of koolaid because all they could talk about were how perfect a couple they are. The premise of the story is very good I just wish the main characters weren't written as lovesick middle schoolers.

Some parts weren't believable for me

The writing was good, which is pretty much par for the course with Nico Jaye. The intimate scenes were hot, also the norm. And there was so much story packed into these few pages. What I didn't particularly care for was unlike in the description, Kyle doesn't seem to be a shameless flirt, but a shameless w***e. I didn't really buy that he was pining away for Dice or that he'd suddenly, overnight become 100% faithful. I also wasn't keen on Dice going from glacier ice cold to smoking red hot in less than 24 hours. I know it was supposedly festering already, but like I said, he'd been ice cold towards Kyle, not even flirting with or smiling at him. Just didn't do it for me.

I'm glad I didn't decide to go with the reviewer on this story, because - let me tell you - this is an awesome story written by a fantastic writer! The sexual scenes were superb, with just mild kink sprinkled through it. And then I like how Nico obviously had a slow build of heat between the two characters. All in all, two thumbs WAAAAY up for this wicked story!

A wonderful short story with engaging characters. I loved their entire relationship. Kyle is definitely attracted to Dice. Dice seems to not like Kyle at all.

Kyle was frustrated.

Damn right, he was frustrated.

While the other brothers were always quick to shut Kyle's light teasing down, laughing it off with him as the silliness he'd intended it to be, Dice simply gave him that enigmatic look, never quite reacting the the way Kyle expected/ There was just something about Dice...And that something made Kyle want to nudge him just a little bit harder. Because with the way Dice starred in his X-rated fantasies, Kyle was abso-____inglutely sure that Dice was no brother of his.

It's good. Maybe not really great.

There's a lot of good stuff in here. And it's frankly a daunting topic which runs from Linux admin; thru EE; writing code in Python, Java and Arduino's lanuguage; and network admin.

I guess my biggest complaint is the lack of follow thru (this obviously wasn't edited by O'Reilly).

In several places, he assures us that the example code can be downloaded from the "book's companion website" and yet the URL of that site is unavailable. Nor can this site be found via the wide variety of Google search strings I tried. The publisher does not list it on their web site.

The book has no appendices. One helpful appendix might have listed all the parts required for the various projects. Another might have listed URL's and other contact info for the vendors and blogs listed in the text.

It's a good book. I would recommend it. But it's a bit rough around the edges.

A Useful Book on IoT

The book covers a wide range of useful projects. There are projects for each of the three popular platforms. That is perhaps the main problem of the book. I think it tries to cover too much so the descriptions are not as clear as could be. If you are already somewhat familiar with the IoT devices and programming, then this book would give you a good overview. If you are a do it yourselfer, a more basic book describing one platform like the Arduino, with step-by-step instructions would be more appropriate.
So, provided that you have sufficient technical background, I do recommend this book. The choice of projects are good and practical

There is a lot of content in the book, a good introduction to the Raspberry Pi and Arduino, but the book's "companion website" is a bit of a mystery - the URL for the companion website is either missing, or buried somewhere.

I have a fair number of their books, and this one is much the same as the others in which the author disparages every other spiritual teacher outside his organization as buffoons and frauds. They only want puppets, and not people who think for themselves.

About the Author

John W. Hill

Hill received his Ph.D. from the University of Arkansas. As an organic chemist, he has published more than 50 papers, most of which have an educational bent. He has authored or coauthored several introductory-level chemistry textbooks, all of which have been published in multiple editions. He has also presented over 60 papers at national conferences, many relating to chemical education. He has received several awards for outstanding teaching and has long been active in the American Chemical Society, both locally and nationally. Now professor emeritus at the University of Wisconsin—River Falls, Hill authored the first edition of Chemistry for Changing Times in 1972. Revising and updating this book has been a major focus of his life for four decades

 

Terry W. McCreary

McCreary received his B.S. from St. Francis University, his M.S. from the University of Georgia, and his Ph.D. from Virginia Tech. He has taught chemistry at Murray State University since 1988, and was presented with the Regents Excellence in Teaching Award in 2008. He is a member of the American Chemical Society and the Kentucky Academy of Science and has served as technical editor for the Journal of Pyrotechnics. In his spare time, he designs, builds, and flies rockets with the Tripoli Rocketry Association; he was elected president of the association in 2010. McCreary is the author of several laboratory manuals; General Chemistry with John Hill, Ralph Petrucci, and Scott Perry; and Experimental Composite Propellant, a fundamental treatise on the preparation and properties of solid rocket propellant

Chemistry textbook

This book was required for my Chemistry class. I found it to be very confusing. I don't know if it's because I'm just not a fan of Chemistry or what, but I often felt lost in this book and had to re-read several parts to make sense of it. The book is very informative, but for some parts, the text is just difficult to interpret, especially if you take the course online like I did and don't have direct access to your professor.

This is one of my favorite books for sure, I learned so much from reading this book! Abnormal Psych is definitely the most interesting thing I have studied, read this book!

Psychology plain and simple

This book has everything a student could need for the study of abnormal psychology. It's organised, readable, and accurate. The case studies really bring it all together in "real world" examples. The only caution I would give is that the 10th addition has some major changes from the 9th, so make sure, if you are using it for a class, that it's the edition the rest of your class is using.

Can'ts see the benefit of having to bind my own book. Very easy to loose pages because they get ripped out on accident flipping through. I suspect this is an attempt to curb used book sell. Get a proper binded version.
